CragRats back on the road in Staffordshire
Working with Staffordshire County Council the aim of the roadshow is to make young drivers aware of the dangers and risks of roads in their roles as drivers, passengers, pedestrians and public transport users. The key messages also include understanding the effects of misadventure and risk-taking where roads and transport are concerned and the importance of safety including issues such as speeding, seatbelt wearing and use of illegal substances whilst driving. The roadshow includes a high-energy, hard-hitting performance and workshops showing carefully set-up scenarios in a safe environment helping the students to understand the possible consequences of not practising road safety. Lindsay Richards, Account Manager for CragRats comments, ‘The overall objective of the programme is to help reduce the number of casualties amongst young drivers. Using real-life theatrical scenarios is a powerful learning tool as it allows the young people to experience situations and come up with ideas and strategies to deal with them. These actions in real-life could prevent accidents and encourage them to practice road safety in their everyday lives.’
