Doncaster teens asked to be judge and jury on road safety
We are asking Doncaster teenagers to turn judge and jury for the day as part of our hard-hitting new school tour on road safety . Doncaster Council asked us to design a bespoke learning programme that addressed specific road safety concerns among Year 10 pupils . Students will experience a court-room drama style theatre production featuring flashbacks to the night of a fatal road accident . They will then be asked to weigh up the ‘evidence’ in an interactive workshop . CragRats’ Account Manager, Lindsay Richards said: “Students will be asked to decide whether the ‘accused’ is guilty of killing one of his mates – a passenger in the car he was driving . The programme is designed to make young drivers think seriously about what can happen when driving dangerously . The aim is to challenge their attitudes and hopefully change behaviours . ” Over 1,500 young people across 8 schools and colleges will benefit from the tour which starts on Monday 14th of January and runs until Friday 25th Jan 2008 . The work with CragRats follows up on Doncaster Council's recent campaign - ‘Dead Good Driver – Dead Mates’. This was a poster campaign aimed at young people who drive unsafely. Doncaster Council and CragRats have a long history of working together on successful road safety projects, the Don’t be a Dummy Campaign in 2007 toured more than ten schools and reached more than 2000 children.
