The Revolution will be televised...
CragRats have seen the future of corporate media and boy is it bright! Bye-bye dry, uninspiring DVDs - hello animation, e-teasers, viral campaigns and stylishly produced films. But don’t take our word for it – see what we can do for your self. Take a sneak peek at the first of four animations we are delivering for Scottish and Southern Energy: Steady Eddie Movie Or watch the engaging film (as above) we put together for the European Customer Management World (ECMW) conference: ECMW Movie 1 - 'Excuse me...' ECMW Movie 2 - 'So, how good is your service...' ECMW Movie 3 - 'Hello there...' The creative force behind CragRats Media is Mark Knight, here he gives us an insight into why his services are so in demand and why media is essential in the modern training toolkit. Q – Hi Mark, tell me a bit about your background? A - Well, before joining CragRats in 2006 I worked in advertising, on music videos and in post production. In terms of highlights; I’ve worked on commercials for the likes of Stella Artois and Levis, had my work broadcast on television and competed in international festivals. But, as the adage goes ‘you’re only as good as your last job’, I guess I better tell you about that! We are nearing the end of a major animation project for Scottish & Southern Energy. They are the most intensive and collaborative pieces I’ve ever worked on and are a clear sign that we’ve stepped up to the next level in terms of what we can produce. Q – What is CragRats Media capable of? We can take a production from concept to delivery. The majority of the work is done in-house (scripting, pre-production, editing, etc), for the remainder we employ industry professionals (camera, sound, animation, etc). At the moment our work is closely tied with existing CragRats work, having said that there is no product we can’t create, or goal we can’t achieve…given the correct budget! Q – What is your vision for CragRats Media? I want to make CragRats Media the number one provider of corporate film services in the country. I want to be known for raising the standards of corporate film. The Scottish & Southern Energy animations that we a currently working on are a brilliant example of this - they are truly groundbreaking. Aside from that, it’s about doing the best you can with every job, which sometimes means taking risks. I am a firm believer in making products that meet the client’s objectives and work as stand alone pieces of entertainment – achieve this and you can’t go far wrong! Q – Media is an indulgent expense - convince me otherwise? A - If done well a media product can be more forceful, more memorable and have greater longevity than any other form of communication. Media offers excellent value for money that can provide a fantastic ROI for the client. I find it is also crucial to work closely with a client to define the messages they need to communicate. I can then make sure the end product delivers those key messages while drawing on elements from TV shows, commercials and films that engage with viewers. Q - Why should I use CragRats Media? I think that it’s our vast experience of different sectors and our desire to work with clients to produce creative and effective solutions that sets CragRats apart. I approach corporate film making in the same way that I would TV or advertising, applying the same values, creativity and flair – CragRats Media do not do dry, uninspiring films! Q What are you up to at the moment? I’m finishing off a slate of work for Scottish & Southern Energy, including their SHE Conference resource and the four animations for their Safe Driving initiative. I’ve also got a documentary project for Scotia Gas Networks in pre-production and a couple of resources for Sheffield Primary Care Trust in development.
