Learning to Integrate
Integrated Learning Integrated learning is a bit like a journey – there is a clear start point and finish post, the people on the journey all come from different places, they use different vehicles and arrive at different times. The best learning programmes reflect this by appealing to different learning styles, engaging with people in a way that works for them and facilitating their movement along the ‘learning route’. Integrated learning programmes achieve this, but what goes into creating one? E-learning E-learning is basically learning that uses technology including websites, blogs, touchscreens etc. Websites with interactive content are becoming an increasingly popular option for those looking for an integrated training solution. Our recent work with Leicestershire City Council on their Bus Confidence programme is a perfect example of this. We developed a strategy that included a web based resource for SEN students, teachers, parents and carers. Live events were also part of the strategy, they were used to promote the website and engage with students to motivate them to travel independently. Marketing The right marketing in the run up to a live event or web launch can be invaluable in building anticipation and buy-in among those taking part in the learning experience. Viral campaigns, e-teasers and newsletters all have their part to play. The ‘Lets make the difference’ culture change programme’ that we designed and delivered for Nottingham City Homes featured elements of marketing including newsletters, posters and it’s own unique brand identity. Live events ‘Live’ learning events are the mainstay of CragRats integrated learning programmes. The sky is the limit with live events, they can include; interactive workshops, theatrical scenarios, pre-disposition exercises would media be in live events or as it’s own section? - all overseen by an expert facilitator. Media The use of media to bring learning programmes to life is also proving very popular at the moment. Bespoke corporate films or animations can add an edge to a training programme and be used time and time again. For more details on this medium and CragRats work in this field see our separate news article in the August newsletter or right here on the CragRats website news pages. Facilitation The latest learning techniques will amount to nothing without the right facilitation and project management to bring them together and define a truly integrated solution. CragRats facilitators and project managers are extremely valuable to the business and our clients – they possess the skills that bring learning to life and understand exactly how to mix techniques to make the learning journey a successful one.
