Alcohol Education Tour

Our massive 2009 ‘alcohol education’ tour is now underway on behalf of Diageo.

This is the 5th year we have delivered a tour on behalf of the drinks company, proving their continued commitment to tackling alcohol misuse among young people.

This year we will visit 89 schools in Scotland, Greater Manchester and Nottinghamshire, a further 12 schools as part of a tour of leading politician’s constituencies and a week spending time in schools in northern Scotland.

To date Diageo and CragRats have taken the responsible drinking message to over 98,000 young people across the country.

An evaluation of the 2008 tour found that:

• 97% of students said the tour made them think about the effects of alcohol misuse.
• 94% learned more about how alcohol misuse can damage their health.
• 93% say the presentation made them think about alcohol and anti-social behaviour.
• 98% realise that drinking can affect their personal safety. 
• 85% realise they are still responsible for their actions, even when they have been drinking.

One student commented that: “Alcohol can affect your health and relationships a lot. It is up to me if I want to drink but I have learnt to be aware of what drinking can do to you and how it can affect you. I have learnt to be more aware of issues with alcohol and to be in control of my surroundings.”
